Jaroslav Valečka / The Whisper of Forgotten Places
March 29, 2026 – July 12, 2026
Opening: March 28, 2026 at 5:00 PM
Jaroslav Valečka (*1972) is one of the leading Czech painters of the middle generation. From 1991 to 1998, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the painting studio of Prof. Jiří Sopko and in the sculpture studio of Prof. Jan Hendrych. In his work, he systematically explores themes related to historical events in the Sudeten region, the transformations of the local landscape, and the associated stories, legends, memories, superstitions, and mythology. His paintings create a distinctive universe seemingly frozen in time, set in places marked by turbulent history and the gradual loss of identity.
